Race for European Art, in 3...2...1…!

Thursday April 21st sees the full launch of the Europeana 280 project and the #BigArtRide as part of the Dutch Presidency of the EU. #BigArtRide brings together two participants in different cities (one in Amsterdam, one elsewhere), invites them to get on their (stationary) bikes, put on virtual reality ‘Oculus Rift’ headsets, and navigate through a virtual city experiencing centuries of Europe’s art along the way.

To kick things off, #BigArtRide is coming to The Hague and competing against Brussels - and you're all invited! The official launch is taking place from 11.45 - 12.30 AM (CET) on the Plein, with the Minister of Culture: Jet Bussemaker. You can come and have a go until 6:30 pm (CET) this Thursday.
#BigArtRide had a test run last week at EYE Institute, and the feedback was brilliant. Check out the video to get a sense of what you can expect.

On April 22nd, #BigArtRide will move to Amsterdam, Oosterdokskade 143 (OBA). On King's Day until April 29th, you can find it at VondelCS, in the Vondelpark. There you will be racing against Wroclaw in Poland.

#BigArtRide is an initiative of the Europeana Foundation, Dropstuff and The Netherlands Institute for Sound & Vision.
