Digitale Collectie

Digitale Collectie brings the digital heritage collections of the Netherlands together in one place.

Digitale Collectie brings the digital heritage collections of the Netherlands together in one place.

Allegory of the triumphal procession of the Prince of Orange, later King Willem II, as the hero of Waterloo, 1815, Cornelis van Cuylenburgh (II), 1815, collection Rijksmuseum.

The Digitale Collectie project is setting up a joint infrastructure for digital heritage collections. An important goal is to take care of the aggregation of the digital heritage collections in Europeana with this infrastructure. Heritage institutions are thus offered a simple instrument to make their digitized collections accessible. The aggreagator is a dark aggregator, so without a frontend. The Dutch heritage institutions themselves remain responsible for digitization and online presentation. The aggregator, however, offers them a clear standard for connecting their digital collections to other national and international services and facilities, within and outside the heritage sector (bibliotheek.nl, education, research, creative industries).
