The project MultiMATCH built a multi-language search engine for cultural heritage.
The system 'crawls' and indexes cultural heritage websites with digitized objects, such as libraries, photo archives, museums and audiovisual archives. In addition to textual sources, the system also analyzes visual material and video fragments and supports at least 4 languages. In MultiMATCH use was made of the latest developments in the field of semantic web technology, as a result of which cross-connections were made between cultural-historical information in heterogeneous collections.
MultiMATCH was funded within the Sixth Framework Programme of the European Commission.
