Project Virtual Museum Canon of the Netherlands

Sound & Vision and the Holland Open Air Museum execute the project Virtual Museum Canon of the Netherlands within the work programme Digital Heritage Visible of the Network Digital Heritage (NDE). This will result in a digital solution that provides visitors attractive results of searches in the Digital Collection Netherlands. In the project a target group analysis is done and there are experiments with a selection of canon subjects and objects in collaboration with a number of pilot canon museums.

Virtual Museum is preparing the digital component of the canon network, a project led by the Holland Open Air Museum. This canon network consists of a number of museums from all over the Netherlands that present parts of the canon. The goal is that the canon museums will together tell the story of the canon of Dutch history complete, layered and from multiple perspectives to a larger audience than any museum could do separately. Virtual Museum will build upon the current presentation of the canon of the Netherlands on the website Entoen.nu, which presents it in words and images on the basis of fifty 'windows'.

Virtual Museum Canon of the Netherlands is funded by NDE, which is funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture & Science.
