36 organisations from different European countries have joined the network. Communia tries to give voice to the public domain in Europe through conferences, workshops and publications and it focuses on policy-making in and around the public domain. The project started in 2007 and was officially finished in June 2010.
Sound and Vision was responsible for the coordination of workgroup 3, where they look at the significance of the digital public domain for "memory institutions" (museums, libraries and archives).
The project is financed by the eContentplus program by the European Commission.
